Stella, who had been molested by her uncle at age 12, suffered from bulimia immediately following the trauma (eating disorders are common following CSA). Stella related a lack of connection in relation to suffering from bulimia:

In a similar manner, Vera related to the time she kept the secret, after being molested by her uncle, when she was 17. After finding out that her younger and older sisters had both been molested by him, they confided in their father but refrained from telling their mother (whose sister was married to the abuser). Vera drifted through time, without an anchor to ground her. The absence of an anchor means that there is no basis to return to and time loses its key role in providing order:
Survivors of CSA are frequently abused by numerous perpetrators, sometimes simultaneously and sometimes later in life. This is due to their being groomed by the initial abuser, which makes them vulnerable to additional abusers. Another symptom following CSA is the acquired disposition to choose abusive partners later, as adults, reenacting the submissive role absorbed in childhood. Such is the case of Grace, who was sexually abused by her uncle, beginning at age four. This abuse went on throughout her entire childhood and puberty, with her abuser waiting until she turned 18 to rape her. Grace was subsequently raped by a date at age 21 and again by an acquaintance at age 29. Grace, like other survivors interviewed, could not account for the duration or extent of ongoing abuse:
Susan mentioned dissociation as a coping mechanism that commenced when relating to the abuse but continued to accompany her throughout life. A similar coping technique was used by Nadine, who was raped by her uncle during a family trip at age 11 and abused repeatedly by her father, for six years from age, 11 until age 17:

A. Aggravated incest is the engaging in any prohibited act enumerated in Subsection B with a person who is under eighteen years of age and who is known to the offender to be related to the offender as any of the following biological, step, or adoptive relatives: child, grandchild of any degree, brother, sister, half-brother, half-sister, uncle, aunt, nephew, or niece.
She had told some friends that she was going to go visit her uncle Donnie Holland at a place out by the Styx River Basin, about 40 miles away from her home in Tillmans Corner. A cell tower ping put her last known whereabouts in that area. Two days later, on June 1, Donnie drove out to a secluded area overlooking the Fish River and, according to officials, shot himself in the head. He died a few days later.
"Her uncle has committed suicide and supposedly he was the last one she was with and so we're worried about that," Brittney's dad, Wallace Hanke, told CBS affiliate WKRG two weeks after Brittney vanished. "I'm hoping to God and I really don't think he would hurt my baby." His wife, Stephanie Hanke, told AL.com it wasn't unusual for the girl to spend time with her uncle, and Brittney's mother, Chessie Wood, said she'd known her brother-in-law Donnie, who was married to her sister Wendy Holland, almost her whole life.
CURRYVILLE, Mo. A troubled young man from this remote stretch of eastern Missouri, Chester Mast had traveled north in the summer of 2004 to stay with his extended family in Wisconsin. Mast, a member of a conservative Amish community here, was meant to apprentice with his uncle, a carpenter.
His uncle opened his home to the young man but, according to court documents, soon began having doubts about Mast. The uncle later told investigators that while traveling in Michigan he had observed his nephew, then 20, place his arm around his 13-year-old daughter. In the evenings back in Wisconsin, Mast and his cousins would open the windows and play cards in his bedroom. And it was there, investigators allege, that one summer night, the girl complained of a pain in her stomach.
Mast, who is married with two children and another on the way, stands accused in Wisconsin of incest and the repeated sexual assault of a minor. Meanwhile, officials here have charged him with two counts each of statutory rape and sodomy and one count of sexual misconduct involving a child. Investigators claim that Mast has victimized at least six girls, ages 5 to 15 - including some outside the Amish community - over the past 10 years.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by ISP Detective Stacy Brown, on May 19, 2020 police were alerted by the Department of Child Services that a 15-year-old female was a victim of repeated sexual assault by her uncle. The girl said she also witnessed Thomas assault her sister.
Heart Broken: Parental Alienation (PA) has been determined to be a form of domestic abuse, predominantly manifesting in the post separation/divorce phase. Researcher and Professor Dr. Jennifer Harman has written and spoken extensively on this issue. And yes, unfortunately, court and mental health professionals can fail to hold abusers accountable and get seduced by their charm, and ability to manipulate and control. I am sorry you have been victimized by this and seemingly failed by the systems designed to uphold justice, protect children, while providing advocacy for victims, and accountability for perpetrators.
Generally, in the U.S., incest laws ban intimate relations between children and parents, brothers and sisters, and grandchildren and grandparents. Some states also ban relations between aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Laws vary as to half- and step-relatives and adopted relatives. Second and third cousins are generally free to marry and first cousins are free to be together in most states.
Some state's incest laws are limited to heterosexual sexual relationships. For example, in Georgia, incest is defined as sexual intercourse between fathers and daughters and mothers and sons, including step-children; siblings and half-siblings; grandparents and grandchildren; aunts and nephews; and uncles and nieces. In North Dakota, incest includes not only sexual activity, but also marriage or cohabitation between first cousins, as well as people who are more closely related than first cousins, whether whole or half-relatives.
Parental involvement laws also disproportionately affect immigrant youth, especially youth who are undocumented, have unclear documentation, are from mixed-status households, and/or whose parents or legal guardians have been detained or deported. Ten states require parents and youth to provide government issued identification either at the provider or to obtain notarized consent documentation. This poses a barrier to immigrant youth with undocumented parents who fear immigration enforcement as well as to youth who are unaccompanied or whose parents have been detained or deported. Four states require proof of parenthood in the form of a birth certificate to prove parental consent, posing another barrier to access to immigrant youth. A judicial bypass also poses a barrier to undocumented youth who fear immigration enforcement and to youth from mixed status households who fear attracting attention to their undocumented parents. All young people including immigrant youth deserve the right to access confidential reproductive healthcare.
Chessie and Eric Winberg, the former detective for Baldwin County who led the case, believe Brittney was picked up by her uncle Donnie Holland, and was driven to a house where he was staying on Water World Road near Styx River.
Brittney's uncle, Dustin Kent, was sentenced to 17 years in prison in November 2015 on charges of sodomy and incest, and James Cumbaa, a Wood family friend, faced charges of sodomy, sex abuse of a child, and rape.
Former detectives and Brittney's mother Chessie Wood have considered the theory that the teen may have been meeting with her uncle to confront him about the sex abuse, and she paid for telling the truth with her life.
At the time of Brittney Wood's disappearance, Donnie Holland had been under suspicion of child molestation offenses and police were closing in on him. Brittney's uncle Randall tipped off the authorities on February 26, 2012, to report the family sex abuse.
